Created for a final capstone exhibition, this project was an homage to the people and experiences in my life that have shaped me into who I am today. I have been inspired to create through all different mediums in my creative practice; this project was a culmination of my love for both tactile and digital design processes.

Shaped By You.

From the Start

When given complete creative freedom for my capstone project, I knew that I wanted to create something that was meaningful to me.

I was inspired by the people around me, who have uplifted me, and pushed me explore my passion for creativity.

So I began by looking at how I have connected with them. I am a collector at heart, and I have saved post cards, letters, knick-knacks, old photos, and memorabilia from every era of my life. I gathered everything I could find and started looking at what they had in common.

Drafting

This stage began my exploration of materials and elements that i wanted to incorporate into the exhibition. I knew that using the handwriting of friends and family was a big piece of my design. Fabric came into play as a nostalgic element, from learning to sew with my grandma. With the other tactile pieces I wanted more of my style and creative abilities to shine, while using my memories and memorabilia as the content.
